clean water and a variety of sailing conditions.

Introduction
To Sailing
You can handle the lines and take the helm for 2 hours of demonstration and hands on fun. Price $140 per person or $195 per couple. Please call or email us to make arrangements for this class. Not for certification.

ASA 101, Basic Keelboat Sailing Class, two days (weekend)
The Basic Keelboat Class teaches the fundamentals of sailing with an emphasis on the interaction of the wind, the boat and the sails. Price $380. This class is the first prerequisite to joining our Sailing Club as a Capri Member.

ASA 101, Basic Keelboat Sailing Class, three weekdays
Same as above, but for students who may wish for more time on the water. This course is offered during the week as a three consecutive day course. Cost is $551/person, three student maximum. |
ASA 103, Basic
Cruising, two days
Learn to sail boats from 20 to 30 feet in length. An emphasis on operating under auxilary power. Anchoring, reefing, heaving-to and other basic skills. Price $366. |
ASA 101/103; Keelboat/Basic Cruising Package, four days (usually two weekends)
Two class combination that is a prerequisite to joining our Sailing Club as a Full Cruising Member.
Price $730. |
ASA 104, Bareboat Chartering Standard, two and a half days
An Intermediate class where students spend 2 days and a night aboard a 27' to 32' yacht. This class is held at Lake Tahoe, or other special locations. Sailors learn such skills as some basic navagation, boat systems, and advanced anchoring/docking techniques. Price $415 per person. Please call or email us for details on this class. |
ASA 105, Coastal
Navigation Standard, two days in classroom
It is strongly recommended that every mariner learn the essential skills to navigate a sailing vessel
in coastal or inland waters. This class is available two ways. First as a Home Study course that is completed with an exam for ASA Certification. Price is $198 per person. We also offer this course in a classroom setting with an Instructor for $310 per person. Look for these classes in our email notices or on this web site. Class Date: October 16/17, 2010. |
ASA Challenge-In, 2hrs/class
If you have sailing experience and wish to challenge into an ASA course instead of taking the full class, you may take the written exam and water practical. Certification is awarded once the challenge is successfully completed. 2-3 hrs/class. |

Motoring and Docking Class, 4 hrs
More advanced docking and motoring skills, expanded from what was learned in the previous courses. Not for certification.

Tahoe
BASIC KEELBOAT CLASS (101);
May 15/16, 22/23; June 5/6, 12/13, 26/27; July 10/11, 24/25; August 7/8, 14/15, 28/29; September 4/5, 18/19, 25/26. Other dates as needed.
BASIC CRUISING
CLASS (103); May 29/30; June 19/20; July 17/18, 31/Aug 1; August 21/22; September 11/12. Other dates as needed.
BAREBOAT
CHARTERING CLASS (104); June 26/27; Aug 28/29.
Cancellation Policy; A full class credit will be issued to you if for any reason you must cancel your sailing class. Credit is good for two years after the first date of enrollment. Credits are transferable to friends or family members. Cash refunds are granted if you purchased Refund Insurance (see below). Special Note: for Basic Coastal Navigation class (ASA 105), there is no credit extended if you cancel. You may recieve a refund if you purchased the refund insurance described below.
Refund Insurance; Unexpected events sometimes arise and force us to change our plans. Sailing Ventures offers our sailing students Refund Insurance for $45 per class and per student--due at the time of enrollment. Refund Insurance entitles you to a full refund of class tuition should you cancel your enrollment more than 14 days prior to the start of your class. If you cancel within 14 days of the start of your class, you will receive a full credit of your tuition valid for 2 years from your original class date. Credit is transferable to friends and family members, and is good for all Sailing Ventures classes.
